September 17- Albert Bigelow Paine

Paine and White co-authored WAW's first book, Rhyme of Two Friends, in 1893. The friendship soon soured as Paine's true character began to be eveident. Paine, a Fort Scott photographic equipment merchant moved to New York and White bought the Gazette in 1895. Paine was a cad and bigamist. In NYC Paine continued as an author, eventually becoming literary executor for Mark Twain. Forensic literary experts are working today to extract Paine's fingerprints from Twain's posthumous publications.
